Mekelle, Tigray – The Tigray Agricultural Research Institute (TARI) recently organized a field day event across all centers throughout the Tigray region to showcase advancements in technology generation, multiplication, and maintenance. The initiative, supported by the FSRP and RISE-FS projects, aims to enhance farmers’ livelihoods and promote environmental sustainability.

A total of 947 hectares of land was dedicated to cultivating diverse crop varieties, which will significantly contribute to addressing seed shortages in the region. By developing and disseminating high-quality seed, TARI is empowering farmers to improve their agricultural practices and increase yields.

The field day provided an opportunity for researchers, farmers, and other stakeholders to gather and exchange knowledge. Participants were able to observe firsthand innovative technologies and techniques being implemented to address specific challenges faced on the agricultural sector.

TARI’s commitment to research-driven solutions and sustainable agriculture is evident in its efforts to develop climate-resilient crop varieties, improve the livestock production system, improve soil health, and promote efficient water use. By working closely with farmers and other partners, TARI is playing a vital role in revitalizing Tigray’s agricultural landscape and ensuring food security for the region.
